I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think we need to talk about germ theory? This is painful and stupid, but I guess it’s where we are right now. And I hate that I have to spend time on this instead of doing something way more interesting and valuable with my time. But RFK Jr. runs our health department and he’s a real-live conspiracy theorist nutcase who is actively costing lives and in danger of costing many, many more.
So what do we know about disease? It’s caused by microorganisms. There’s no debate about this and there hasn’t been for hundreds of years. You can see the little guys in the microscope. And for this reason this is honestly way dumber than even the flat earther nonsense because at least you have to get into a particular position and know what you’re looking for to see the curvature of the earth. Here you can just literally see germs. We know the genetic and biomechanical mechanisms through and through, and we’ve manipulated them to create vaccines and even cancer treatments in a field called viral oncology. Like we know germs so well that we can adapt them for our purposes to fight other diseases that have nothing to do with them.
I just can’t even with this, honestly. I can’t even. And I’m sorry. I’m sorry to a lot of people who are going to be hurt by this. If he does what he says he’s going to do, and there’s no reason to believe he won’t, then our healthcare infrastructure is going to be crippled and our ability to fight completely preventable disease is going to crumble overnight. Just right back to the dark ages.
Speaking of the dark ages, RFK Jr. claims to believe in something called the miasma theory of disease, which comes from the idea that bad smells or foul air made people sick. One of the major works of miasma theory was written by Hippocrates in the fifth century BCE. It made sense back then, sure, because nobody could see the microscopic world at that point and people who were dying of plague smelled bad. But that wasn’t why you caught the plague from them. It was because of the Yersinia pestis bacterium that came out of their body.
In the same book that RFK Jr. wrote to tell us about his belief in miasma theory, he goes on to completely get the whole miasma theory of disease 100% wrong and instead he describes something else entirely, something called terrain theory. So he doesn’t even know which historical pseudoscience he believes in. But terrain theory centers around the body being just magically able to take care of itself if it’s in the right shape and when you’re eating a balanced diet, of course with certain foods and supplements that grifters want you to buy from them and that didn’t even exist for 99% of human history. Kennedy is really upset about, quote “targeting particular germs with specific drugs rather than fortifying the immune system through healthy living, clean water, and good nutrition." Which is just new-age spiritualism from the 90s mixed with the fad diets and anti-toxin and chemical fearmondering of the 2000s mixed together and marketed to the people who fell for Q-Anon conspiracy theories. It should go without saying, but there is nothing at all factually accurate about terrain theory. You can be in the best shape of your life and eat nothing but organic puma livers if that’s what you want and still just get sick and still die. There are so many countless examples of why this is bottom-of-the-barrel ridiculous that it would take forever to go through it all. The kids who died so far in the measles outbreaks running rampant around the country right now, were just, according to him, just malnourished. Medical examinations have concluded they were definitively not malnourished. Honestly, just f*ck this guy.
In the past, we’d just relegate him to the dustbin of obscurity, but in the post-satire era of MAGA mayhem he gets to be in charge of public health. Just some of the insane things he’s said in the past are things like he doesn’t believe HIV causes AIDS, he thinks that mass shootings are the result of anti-deppressant use, he thinks wifi causes cancer, he said that people on the autism spectrum can’t hold jobs, date, or use the bathroom by themselves, and he revived an old classic but with a fun twist: chemicals in the water are making our kids nonbinary.
It’s time to admit the truth about RFK Jr., Trump, and the others in the maga mayhem movement. If RFK. Jr. was not wealthy and not a Kennedy, he would be homeless and living under a bridge. He’s very genuinely an unhinged lunatic. He would have been involuntarily committed and treated with necessary medical interventions. Not the least of which would have been to evaluate the level of brain damage he’s accumulated from more than one source. The most fun cause we know of is the brain worm he got from eating exotic roadkill like whale heads and bears, and that he has personally said publicly out loud that this worm has eaten some of his brain and then died. The thing that I don’t see anyone talking about is that even if this isn’t completely true, it’s still very bad. It means there’s some level of pathological delusion going on.
He was also treated for mercury poisoning at one point, which is definitely a big concern when we’re talking about things that can cause neurological and cognitive problems. Methylmercury bioaccumulates in the body and is found in predatory fish like tuna, shark, and swordfish, for instance, because they eat all the things that have eaten all the other things and are all full of mercury. So then RFK Jr. comes along and eats those things, because he’s apparently the only person alive who read The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, and found it aspirational.
At the time, he complained of serious memory problems and brain fog, but recently he’s insisted that he doesn’t have any lingering affects from this stuff. While he was running for president in the spring of 2024, he tweeted one of the most insane things a human being has ever said in the history of the known world: “I offer to eat 5 more brain worms and still beat President Trump and President Biden in a debate. I feel confident of the result even with a six-worm handicap.”
We really are in the bad place. This is the bad place.
I want to be clear that I’m not disparaging anyone when I say this next thing, but we have to also address the fact that RFK Jr. is a heroin addict. Heroin causes a fun rush at first, which might be the reason that he once said in an interview that his heroin use made him super smart. Quote: “I did very, very poorly in school until I started doing narcotics.” He said after that he went right to the top of his class. But what medical professionals say is that after the initial good stuff, heroin slows down your cognition, lulls you into a mental fog, and slows your breathing down to dangerously low levels which can, you guessed it, cause brain damage.
He just told people during an inspirational speech at a recovery center that finding purpose in his life was the spiritual awakening that turned things around for him, and I think I can safely speak for everyone when I say that we all wish he hadn’t found that purpose.
Other health conditions we know about because he told us are that he contracted hepatitis c from heroin needles when he was young. He’s been hospitalized four times for atrial fibrillation that’s escalated to dangerous levels, but he told the Times that he thinks that condition just disappeared. He’s complained of heart problems all the way back to his time in college. The possibility that severe and persistent afib would simply go away is, in a word, unlikely.
So, look, this is absolute madness of the highest order, and my issues are thus:
Number one: Why are we not demanding answers? We don’t even know what kind of parasite got into his brain in the first place. The specifics of that could change a lot of things, because each has different repercussions and causes separate health concerns. Toxoplasma gondii, the parasite found in litter boxes, is a parasite that can make its way to the brain and is associated to some degree with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. He promised to release further medical records but of course he hasn’t done that.
Number two: Why are we allowing someone with so many self-inflicted health problems to control the health of the rest of us and our access to necessary medical treatments? It’s not like he was just unlucky, he went out of his way to eat roadkill and not believe science and here we are.
Number three: Why are we allowing any of the people in the administration who are all just as incompetent and dangerous as RFK Jr. to serve at the pleasure of the American people? We are not, I assure you, pleasured. We are, in fact, displeasured. And until the people we elected to so something about any of this stop adhering to arbitrary high-road decorum and start taking action, then we’re going to keep suffering from the era of maga mayhem and the complete breakdown of societal infrastructure. And I made a video on what could be underneath the push for burning the world to ashes and who’s behind that, so if you’re interested in learning the truth about some of that, then make sure to check that out.
In the meantime, let’s keep pushing our elected officials and demand accountability for their inaction. Let’s push the media, and demand accountability for their inaction and complicity in giving these grifters and mental amphibians a platform and normalizing and legitimizing their pathological derangement. Let’s do some f*cking good while we work to secure consequences for these people and get our country back on the path of science and reason and democracy.
